FOOD WASTE HACKATON
June 15th – 16th

Real challenges, real solutions.

2 Days | 10 Companies | 10 Brand New Anti Waste Programs

The Food Waste Hackathon (FWH) is an intensive, immersive and interactive event designed to fight food waste with creativity and innovation.
A sponsor organization brings its food waste challenges to the table.  We  provide them with the ideal environment to explore and solve the problem with radically innovative project proposals.
We work in teams of up to eight people, engineering a mix of representatives from the sponsoring company as well as inviting other individuals who can bring their expertise, brain power and fresh perspectives to generate and develop innovative solutions.
We create a climate that nourishes creativity and maximizes the expertise of the professionals and participants we bring together, with facilitators who design a collaborative process that produces truly novel ideas.   These ideas are prototyped to make them concrete and actionable.
Our location at Fusion Point is ideally suited to host this dynamic event, and is  equipped with 5 different labs that allow any kind of prototype construction.
Implementation is guaranteed by the creating of a ready-to-use prototype, a front-line team, and 100-days implementation plan which will be supervised by Valueloops.

Format

Our format pairs the ability of a hackathon to produce radically creative ideas with a careful scoping for the event. FWH only works on solving real-life business problems of participants. This increases the odds of effective solutions faster, and at a fraction of the costs associated with the problem–solving.

Methodology

Our methodology is uniquely crafted to assure high energy and deep engagement of participants with the goal of creating radically innovative projects by designing a free-thinking, fertile environment. The mixed teams of owners of problems enable creative effective outputs that are then tested and prototyped. Stakeholders drive outcomes and we monitor the implementation.

Results

We designed a process that is geared to results.  Projects exit the Hackathon prototyped. We create a frontline implementation team composed of experts and insiders. We facilitate a 100 days plan to implement and track results. We follow up on all the teams after the Hackathon.

What we do

Recruit companies with food waste challenges
Assemble diverse teams of specialists from different fields
Assist the teams with facilitation and creativity methodologies
Encourage teams to prototype their solutions
Showcase the results to a wider audience

Our value proposition

We bring you more creative, effective solutions

We generate more creative solutions to your problem.  Hack-a-thons are uniquely designed to explore as many possible and creative solutions to the real problem you face in your business.  Because we bring together experts from a variety of fields that you wouldn’t typically have access to, we are able to bring a high degree of “out-of-the-box,” value-added thinking to the process and come to effective solutions more quickly.  Examples may be PhD students studying related fields, design experts, IT, etc.

We ensure the deep engagement of participants

Hack-a-thons are high energy events that deeply engage all participants, including those who attend from your organization.  We seek to have all participants leave the Hack-a-thon with renewed vigor, dedicated to implementing the solution found within their organization.  These participants then become advocates within their organisation as they have seen the power of attacking tough problems with a diverse group of people in a short time.

Hack-a-thons are highly cost-effective for your organization

Because of the efficiency of the Hack-a-thon structure as a two-day, intense event, we can offer solutions to organisations at a fraction of the cost associated with problem-solving using more traditional methods (research/project approach).

We find solutions to your problem fast

The time-constrained nature of a Hack-a-forces solutions to be arrived at quickly. Traditionally, these processes would take several weeks or months, depending on the nature of the problem and the structure of the organisation addressing it.
